Shellsburg Girl Scouts Troup 413
Girl Scouting offers girls age 5 to 17 the opportunities of a lifetime!  Girl Scouts has it all!  Your daughter will discover the fun, friendship, and power of girls together!

We meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month from 6:30 pm to 8 pm at Shellsburg Elementary.  Our troop enjoys fun activities during meetings.  We play games, and do activities to earn badges.

We also are involved in service projects.
Some of the girls attend camp.  We participate in activities that the council organizes.  We also organize our own events such as a trip to Petco, and making pizza.  Come join us for a meeting! Contact Josie Miller or Pat Schneider.

Shellsburg Girl Scout Troop 413 News

April

The girls had a great cookie sale!  We surpassed last year's total by over 500 boxes!  Thanks to everyone who supported the troop by buying cookies.  The girls have a great opportunity in April thanks to the money they raised from the sale.  The troop will be going to the Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines for an overnight adventure.  The troop will experience a night time program, and then they will spend the next day seeing all the animals.

We have been busy with other activities besides the zoo.  The girls learned about first aid, and made their own first aid kits.  They earned a badge.  We also finished up an animal badge that we started at Petco.  We also started a travel badge that we will finish with our trip to the zoo.

It will be an eventful spring as we wrap our year.

March

The troop has had a great cookie sale!  We exceeded last year's total sales, and we are still selling cookies!  We will be having a cookie booth on Saturday March 7 from 10 am to 4 pm at Theisen's in Vinton.  We will also have a cookie booth at Cranky Hank's and Christopher and Banks at Lindale Mall on March 14 from 10 am to 4 pm.  Please stop to support a local troop.

In February, the girls went to Petco to learn more about animals, and then headed over to Cranky Hank's to make their own pizza.  Everybody had a good time.
We are looking ahead, and planning to finish up some badges as well as finish the journey books we started at the beginning of the year.  The girls will start working on their service project once it starts to get warmer.  They are also making plans to use the proceeds of the cookie sale.  The girls are planning to go to the Des Moines Blank Park Zoo overnight.  The zoo will provide a program about night animals, and then we will have the next day to explore the zoo.  The girls are really excited about it.
