Shellsburg City Park is located on Sells Street next to Bear Creek. The park offers a playground equipment, a gazebo, fountain, basketball court, and an open air pavilion all for use by the public and for various events. The open air pavilion was constructed by the Shellsburg Lions Club in 2005 and can be used for reunions and many other functions. To rent the pavilion, contact the city clerk to make a reservation. The pavilion rental rules and agreement may be found here. This park extends across to the south side of the historic spandrel bridge where the “Welcome to Shellsburg” rock is located, along with a picnic table and newly planted trees.
Shellsburg Memorial Park, located directly west of City Park, was created in June of 2013. Additional trees were planted in October of 2012 and memorial benches were added in 2013. In April 2016 a short walking trail was created through the park and future enhancements are under development. |
