Land Use Ordinance
After multiple meetings facilitated by ECICOG, the Planning & Zoning Commission developed a zoning ordinance which was reviewed by the city council and adopted on April 1, 2019. The current Zoning Regulations and Subdivision Regulations can be found in Chapters 165 and 166 of the city ordinances. The zoning ordinance refers to “Districts” of the community and the Shellsburg Zoning Map shows where these are located. The zoning ordinance requires certain building and permit fees for the administration and enforcement of the zoning codes. The subdivision regulations call for certain development fees to support actions outlined in that chapter. |

Comprehensive Plan
The Comprehensive Plan was adopted by the Shellsburg City Council on May 22,2018. Shellsburg citizen input was received April 2017. A Town Hall meeting was held October 26, 2017. Development Application/Permit Application (pdf) Planning & Zoning Commission:
